My name is Lucy Beauchamp and I plan to use my education to improve others' lives. I have been a Presidential Cincinnatus Scholar in the University Honors Program at the University of Cincinnati for the past two years. I am studying Human Development and Community Engagement with a minor in Economics and a certificate in Social Justice. I have lived in Cincinnati, Ohio my entire life and I appreciate the opportunities it has given me. I learn the most from real world experiences that have a positive impact. I love to spend my time volunteering and I have a passion for working with children and families. In my free time I have been working to create a student organization that provides students applying to college writing support, and on campus I work as an Academic Coach with the University of Cincinnati Transition Access Program. I enjoy serving as an ambassador for both the College of Education, Criminal Justice, and Human Services and the University Honors Program. These programs have given me the opportunity to explore research within UC's Department of Psychology and serve as an intern for the Ohio Innocence Project. I aim for my education to prioritize discovery and community as key components of academics. I am a strong leader and feel driven by work that allows me to empower others. My goal for college and beyond is to be impactful. I would like to put my education towards bettering more than my own future. I believe it is every student’s responsibility to take the knowledge they gain from classes and turn it into a passion that can change the world.
